Installing Air Domes

A conventional building is generally a permanent structure that is built in place. Of course there are modular buildings or manufactured homes or warehouses that are used as living spaces or warehouses or large malls but there is another alternate structure that can be used as warehousing or convention halls and for temporary buildings and that is the class of sir supported structures called air domes. Air domes are air supported structures that are dome shaped. A dome shape is a logical shape for an air supported structure because the dome shape has the greatest amount of volume that can be utilized and is made from the least amount of material. When you reduce the amount of lightweight material that is used to create air domes you are reducing the cost of the actual structure.

These air supported domes come in a variety of sizes and shapes including custom sizes all depending on what your ultimate use of the air supported structure will be. These alternate structures have been in use since the 1960s and been used in many different ways and for different purposes. They can be used as a national sports team practice structure so that the team can play hockey or football under that air dome and not be exposed to the elements in winter. They can be used for tennis clubs or golf practice structures. They can be used as a temporary warehouse or as a permanent storage facility. These structures can cover a whole lot of area and be airtight. They can also be ventilated depending on the use. They can provide a partial covering of a site or perhaps just be a roof over an area. Each of these different types will require different installation and site prep.

These structures are capable of withstanding hurricane force winds of a category 5. They can withstand snow loads of over 40 to 50 pounds per square yard depending on the manufacturer of the unit. The best quality can withstand winds of over 120 miles per hour. So the use will dictate the quality of the air supported structure. Perhaps a temporary unit to cover a natural resource for a short period of time may not be as heavy a piece of material as one that will be in use as a sports dome intended to be used for years.

Just as with any other construction site this type of air supported structure requires specialized knowledge to construct the unit properly so it will survive all climatic changes over a year. It requires modern equipment to install and for that you will need an experienced general contractor who is experienced in this type of construction. If the structure is intended to serve as a more permanent structure it may require that the anchors of the structure be imbedded in concrete. This also requires an experienced contractor to install it securely and properly.

This is a low cost alternative to a conventional building and the experienced contractor will make sure it is installed properly for you.
