Protecting your Tennis Racquet

Very often during the tennis matches, we see the pros using plastics bag to wrap their tennis racquets. The plastic bag provides some protection to the tennis racquet against humidity and scratches, especially when your tennis racquet is strung by natural gut.

Racquets strung by natural gut have to be taken special care and store in environment with note on the temperature, humidity and air flow.

Natural gut racquets are best stored in slightly below room temperature. High temperature can make your string becomes brittle and easily broken. Exposure to Water and high humidity will also damage your natural gut string. Although today natural gut coating help repel water to some extent, special care on avoiding water to spill on it is very important.

To protect your racquet and string, some people will use plastic bags to storage the racquet, this minimize the effect of changes in air humidity and temperature. But in this era of rising environmental concerns, using plastic bag is not an ideal way. Plastic bags take about a million years to biodegrade, not to mention about the released toxins and pollution caused by the manufacturing processes.
