Golf Fitness Plan – Discover the Secrets of Golf Kryptonite
Golf fitness plans are designed to improve a Golfers game, just like Kryptonite gave Superman his powers so a specifically designed Golf fitness exercise plan can give your game a super human edge. At the very least it will result in better performance and fewer injuries, I am sure that you want that?
The first thing to consider is where do our bodies get their power from? From the muscles contracting and stretching. This cause the joints to bend, spine to twist, the result then being movement. The faster and harder this movement is depends on how fit the muscles are. The lack of injuries comes, in part, from this also from the body being conditioned to move in a particular way. In Golf this is very important as the amount of rotation in the swing is not a natural movement. Golf fitness plans and exercises will help with all these aspects.
Whether you are left handed or right handed as a Golfer you will now be thinking that you only use one set of muscles for your Golf swing. This is why, as in any exercise plan, a Golf fitness exercise scheme must exercise the muscles you use and the opposite muscles also. In simple terms if you exercise your right arm the then left arm needs to be exercised as well. This balance gives a greater overall level of fitness which allows us better strength, flexibility and health.
When out on the course we Golfers walk for miles, often a quite a pace. Even the lay of the course and its different terrain (uphill and downhill) has an impact on our body. Yet the most energy we expend in the shortest time is in the Golf swing. This is where we must see what muscle groups are at work in the swing, to do this we must look at the position of the skeleton, i.e. the posture.
From the ground up, a simple illustration of the posture of the Golf swing:

Ankles are slightly bent

So are the knees

The hips as well

The spine is at an angle from the hips yet straight in overall shape

The Arms are stretched out

Chin is up

Head is down with eyes on the ball
Straight away certain muscle groups are in action here. In layman’s terms these are (from the ground up):

Lower leg muscles

Upper leg muscles
-
lower back muscles
Now add the rotation of the body as the club is raised:

Core muscles

Shoulder and arm muscles.
Nearly 100% of the body in fact. Wait, and don’t sigh have you ever seen a Golfer built like a weight lifter? Golf fitness plans are designed to get the best athletic performance for Golf and not any other sport. The exercises in a Golf fitness plan are for Golf, not Tennis or Boxing, etc.
We Golfers need a muscle structure that allows the body to act like a spring. That is because we are placing the body under tension (twisting on the back swing) and then releasing this tension on the down swing and follow through. Logically then we want flexible joints and relaxed muscles, so the best exercises are those that create this, especially in the legs, hips, core (lower back and abdominal muscles) and upper back.
Now for the good news; a simple Golf fitness plan and its exercises are easy to do, don’t require masses of expensive equipment and can be done at home as easily as at a gym. The best golf fitness plan exercises, as in any exercise place a resistance on the joint and muscle. Then when the exercise is over the person training rests and the body then does the work to allow this exercise to be done better the next time. All in very small bits as well. Golf exercise plans are a long term venture.
AS with any fitness plan, one that a specific Golf fitness plan must be one that is addressing the demands of that very sport. However in general terms the muscles to be exercised are:

Core body strengthening exercises

Leg strengthening exercises

Lower back strengthening exercises

Upper back strengthening

Stretching exercises
Work with a professional Golf fitness instructor to see what the exact muscle groups your individual Golf fitness plan needs to work on. It is their job to advise you on the best Golf exercises for you and the best way to execute them. Follow their advice to the letter.
Any equipment that you need can be stored easily in the home or office as it consists of a set of small dumbbells, a resistance tube (big rubber band) and a medicine ball or similar. The precise exercises to do are best worked out with a Golf fitness instructor. They would in all likelihood consist of stretching, squats, sit-ups and lower back extensions.
By now you will have a sense on how a Golf fitness program will improve your game, you will have less injuries, and recover quicker, also benefit from overall better health. You can see clearer what muscle groups are involved and why, and also why it is important to have a Golf fitness plan as well. Including but not limited to increased strength, and flexibility.
