Body Building Before And After
How to Deal with Cramps During Body Building
Aghhh! The pain of cramps after a bodybuilding program can sometimes be annoying. It can even wake you up in the middle of the night. For body builders, cramps are occurrences one should expect. However, as time passes by, experienced body builders also have discovered ways to deal with the muscle cramps so that these, and the pain that goes with them, are minimized.
One way to deal with cramps is to increase your intake of water and healthy fluids such as fruit juice. They say that normally, a person needs around 8 to 10 glasses of liquids a day. However, body builders need more than the requisite daily amount of liquid. This is because body builders also need an increased food intake and they also do plenty of intensive msucle building programs, where much sweating is involved. This means that body builders also lose a lot of liquids as they work out.To determine whether you are getting the right amount of water, look at the color of your urine. If it gets quite dark and cloudy, you should increase your fluid intake. The ideal urine color should be pale and light.
Another thing that could help minimize cramps would be to avail of regular muscle massages. You should also warm up before and after a work out. Amateurs usually forget to do so and as as result, get more cramps. When you prepare your body before exercising and when you “cool down” your muscles after an intense natural bodybuilding workout, you lessen the risk of getting cramps. You also prevent yourself from getting injured.
Also, keep in mind the intensity of your workout.Do not overtrain! Give your muscles sufficient time to repair themselves. Remember, it is not during workouts that you grow your muscle, it is during the time you are resting that muscles grow bigger. If you train constantly, you do not let your body have the time it needs to grow and develop.
Another thing to remember is that during workouts, you not just sweat. You lose electrolytes along with all the sweating you do. These electrolytes should be replaced after each workout in order to reduce the possibility of cramping. You can make use of sport drinks (such as Gatorade), or salt. When you exercise, avoid doing so in excessive cold or heat. You should also allow your body to slowly cool down. Never, ever, try to go to an extremely cold atmosphere just so you can cool down quickly.
And you know what works against cramps? Bananas! Yes, this power fruit should be eater before your workout to help you avoid cramps. It is also a great way to replenish your levels of glycogen.
